About Vicky Allen

For over twenty-five years, I have taught deaf students in both residential programs and public schools. At the college level, I taught American Sign Language for foreign language university credit. Also, through the University of Nevada, I developed an American Sign Language course for K-12 teachers of hearing students, for which they received graduate-level credit.Since 2009, I have been teaching ESL/EFL both in the United States and overseas, where I developed an individualized program to enhance my students' learning of English as a Second/Foreign Language. I also started an Extensive Reading program that increased the level of reading for our students. After a brief break, I went back into the classroom at an Ecuadorian university using Extensive Reading, Speaking, and Listening to enhance the students' learning of English. I also worked with a non-profit after-school program in Ecuador to enhance their English program by initiating an Extensive Reading program with the help of a grant from the Extensive Reading Foundation and an Extensive Listening and Speaking program courtesy of EnglishCentral, a very successful online platform. I also taught American Sign Language to homeschool students.
