About Vicky Nguyen
Hello! I am Vicky (Vy), a third-year student from Saigon, Vietnam. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Sciences at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Growing up, I have witnessed several discrepancies in healthcare systems, fueling my determination to improve the lives of those around me through medicine. Moreover, my cross-cultural experiences as a Vietnamese-Canadian have inspired me to explore the complexities of history, linguistics, and geopolitics. Gradually, I developed a keen interest in public health, as it intersects my interests in life sciences and humanities. During my studies at UBC, I aim to combine my passions through a degree in Integrated Sciences, where I am integrating neuroscience, physiology, and public health. My goal is to contribute to addressing socioeconomic barriers to healthcare systems in developing countries. In my free time, I enjoy learning new languages (Portuguese and Italian currently!), writing poetry, and playing the piano, all while drinking too much matcha. Let’s connect!
