Communicate with and assist physicians with records requests, deposition subpoenas, Notice of Intents, and Legal Complaints associated with medical malpractice-related civil proceedings. • Review medical records and interview medical consultants to discuss medical and legal aspects related to liability exposure. • Prepare periodic case development memos, pre-trial reports, and post-trial summaries detailing medical and legal case status and analysis • Maintain daily correspondence with defense attorneys to discuss intricate medical and legal arguments to assure an effective legal defense strategy. • Identify and evaluate potential liability and assess monetary reserves. • Work closely with management team to develop, prepare, and implement appropriate negotiation/case resolution strategies • Evaluate legal statutes and causes of legal action with fellow underwriters to determine coverage limitations. • Manage Special Investigation Fraud Unit as required by California Department of Insurance; responsible for annual training of staff and filing of annual compliance report of suspected fraudulent incidents.to Fraud Division • Work in direct relation with IT Department and Risk Management to implement new technological services to improve efficiency and expediency of claims-related tasks, including invoice bill pay workflow, security protocols for electronic correspondence in accordance with Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH), and Expert Witness Database
