About Victor Ngo

Victor Ngo (he/him) is a registered urban planner and research scientist with over a decade of experience in consulting, academia, and government advancing sustainability solutions in cities and communities. He holds a MA in Planning and BA in Geography from the University of British Columbia and a certificate in Leadership from Simon Fraser University. Victor is a senior planner with WATT Consulting Group, where he works on multi-modal transportation projects in urban, rural, and Indigenous communities throughout Western Canada and oversees the BC South Coast practice as the Vancouver office co-lead. Victor’s work spans the provincial to site scale, where he leads and manages transportation and community planning studies, plans, programs, and decision support tools. He is a key expert in the firm's practice areas in electric mobility, parking & curbside management, transportation demand management, active transportation and accessibility design, and GIS & data analytics. His approach combines applied research, structured decision-making, and values-based planning to help interest-holders bridge the important details with long-term vision to navigate complex policy, strategy, and design challenges. His clients include local & regional governments, transportation agencies, health & housing authorities, and institutional & private landowners in over 40 communities. As a RHFAC Professional, he incorporates universal design principles to create more accessible, equitable, and barrier-free communities. Victor's work has been recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Canadian Institute of Transportation Engineers, including receiving the 2024 Emerging Planner Award for his achievements and contributions to the profession. He represents planners at the national level on significant policy matters and has mentored dozens of students and emerging professionals. Victor was a fellow with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network and advises on environmental and youth engagement initiatives across the country, formerly serving as a board director to The Starfish and advisor to CityHive, the Fraser Basin Council, and the Vancouver Foundation. Victor's work is published in high-impact scholarly journals on topics such as climate action and resilience, and he has been featured on CBC News, CBC Radio, and other media outlets for his insights on cities and urban mobility. Outside of work, Victor is a photographer and published artist. He lives in East Vancouver and you can spot him in the city on his e-bike.
