About Victor Papaiz

I’m a field-focused biologist with diverse professional experience across wildlife management, fisheries research, animal behaviour, entomology, horticulture, and microbiology. My background spans hands-on work with birds, fish, insects, plants, and pathogens, guided by a strong foundation in ecological science and a passion for applied fieldwork. Currently, I serve as Wildlife Control Supervisor at Toronto Pearson International Airport with Falcon Environmental, where I oversee field operations at one of Canada’s most complex and high-traffic aviation environments. In this high-stakes role, I lead a team of Wildlife Control Officers tasked with mitigating wildlife hazards to ensure aviation safety and regulatory compliance. My responsibilities further include managing a fleet of vehicles and field equipment, coordinating digital systems and reporting, serving as the primary site liaison for IT, and guiding the development of standard operating procedures. As part of our integrated control strategies, I also work closely with trained birds of prey, combining animal behaviour knowledge with practical risk management to protect both aircraft and wildlife. Alongside my current work, I’m in the final stages of completing a Master’s degree in freshwater fisheries conservation at Queen’s University, where my research uses acoustic telemetry and statistical modelling to study largemouth bass spawning behaviour. Across roles and disciplines, I bring a consistent focus on safety, problem-solving, and practical field leadership, with the aim of building systems and teams that support both environmental and operational goals.
