About Victoria Eigler

I am a Conservation Educator at Dublin Zoo. My primary responsibility is educating diverse audiences on conservation and sustainability issues and providing them with the tools to begin combating these issues. I also work on the animal interpretation and various other aspects of the Zoo's science communication. My aim in this role is to connect learners with nature and inspire them to take action for wildlife. My background includes a Master's degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management and an undergraduate degree in Animal Science - Equine. Completing these degrees has allowed me to view issues such as climate change, environmental degradation, biodiversity decline, and agricultural sustainability from two different perspectives—the agriculturalist and the conservationist—and thus identify the similarities and differences between both sides. Subsequently, I gained a nuanced understanding of these issues. I also had the opportunity to engage in a variety of animal, nature, and culture-related work experiences in Ireland, Germany, and Japan. These experiences have given me confidence, flexibility, and drive while also broadening my worldview. In my free time, I also volunteer with BirdWatch Ireland on various citizen science projects.
