Research Associate | Infectious Disease Specialist | University of Cambridge & Wellcome Sanger Institute With a deep-rooted passion for unraveling the mysteries of infectious diseases, I serve as a Research Associate at the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, and a Visiting Research Fellow at Parasites & Microbes, Wellcome Sanger Institute. My journey in medical microbiology and immunology spans over 8 years, culminating in a PhD in Medical Microbiology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Throughout my career, I've been driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge and innovation in the fight against infectious diseases. At present, I focus on leveraging genomic data and insights into pathogen evolution to develop robust, rapid, accurate, and cost-effective pathogen detection kits tailored for field use. Concurrently, I explore the intricate relationship between host factors and H. pylori virulence in gastric cancer development. Additionally, I assess the efficacy of diphtheria antitoxin and vaccines against circulating toxin variants. Beyond my research pursuits, I am deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of scientists, sharing my expertise and insights to inspire future breakthroughs. My contributions have been recognized through grants, fellowships, and publications in reputable journals and media outlets. Proficient across a wide array of microbiological and immunological techniques, molecular biology, alternative medicine, bioinformatics, and project management, I have successfully applied these skills to diverse projects spanning research on Diphtheria, Cholera, H. pylori, AMR, and the human gut microbiome.
