About Vijai Joseph

I am passionate about using genetics to understand diseases.My key interests are agnostic large scale data analysis pertaining to human cancers and other Mendelian disorders that result in the discovery of novel genetic risk/causal factors. I have been involved in several projects involving genetic association studies and resequencing in cancers. I am a member of both analytic and writing working group in several consortia. I am a project leader on familial exome sequencing of lymphomas funded by an internal grant at MSKCC and a co-investigator in large multi-centric sequencing projects on breast cancer genomics. I have attended advanced hands-on courses on next generation sequencing and have experience in implementing these in the lab. I am proficient in unix and bioinformatic tools and well versed in the statistical analysis of both case-control and family-based association and linkage designs. Some people I know consider me as a polymath.Specialties: Population genetics, molecular genetics, cell culture, cell signaling, next generation sequencing, copy number variation, functional studies on oncogenes.
