About Vikki Marshall

I apply my management and leadership skills in the operational management of a Medical Research Institute. I have a strong background in laboratory-based biomedical research commencing at the WEHI, before transitioning to Genomics Core Facility management at three research institutes (including the University of Queensland). My background is in molecular genetics and research laboratory manager/core facility manager with significant expertise in molecular biology, genetics, high-throughput genetic analysis, genomics, experimental design and analysis, laboratory design and management. I am a detail-orientated scientist with advanced written and oral communication skills, and an adaptable communicator who enjoys troubleshooting, training and mentoring. I have experience in scientific writing and publication of my own research data and expertise in automated DNA sequencing, Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS), robotics and high-throughput/large-content genetics and functional genomics screens. I have a passion for evaluating new genomics technologies and for improving, troubleshooting and developing laboratory-based procedures relevant to the genetics/genomics fields, enabled by a thorough understanding of the theory that underpins them. Whilst holding the position of facility manager for the Microarray Core Facility and the Victorian Centre Functional Genomics (VCFG) at Peter Mac in Melbourne, I reported quarterly to the Victorian State Government (DIIRD).
