At present, working as Senior Manager – Operations in Hot Strip Mill Division of Essar Steel Ltd, Hazira, India, which is a 10 MTPA integrated steel plant – a part of the USD 15 billion multinational business conglomerate – the Essar group. Working with ESSAR since Dec.1995Part of the engineering team responsible for coordinating and producing 3.6 MTPA of steel in the form of ‘hot rolled coils’ (HRCs).Continuous Improvement in controlling parameters and cost drivers like Quality diversions, Rework, Delay Time, Fuel, Power, Yield.Continuous monitoring of operations, process parameters. Problem identification and analysis, problem solving, improvement inproduct process.Feasibility study for new product development – coordination with research and development.Handling Internal/ External customer complaints, providing CAPA.Leading, supervising and managing a team of around 40 people comprising 4 managers, 4 asst managers, 5 senior engineers, 12 engineers, 15 technicians to carry out shift wise production as per targets and planning. Continuous monitoring of Process, Problem identification and solving, contingency planning, resource allocation - cranes (11 over head cranes) and other resources like equipment, man-power management, and shut down activities. Inter-department coordination with Maintenance (Mechanical and Electrical), Automation, Roll shop, Supply Chain Management, Quality, Utilities, Slab yard, Technology Cell.Handling quality assurance and quality control issues like deviation and standardization of process parameters, modification and standardization of operations, identification/analysis and elimination of surface and other defects. All activities carried out with consideration of highest safety parameters.
