About Vinay Sharma
I am currently a Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) postdoctoral fellow in the Jasanoff laboratory at MIT. My research revolves around synthesizing nanoscale sensors for imaging calcium and other key neurochemicals (such as dopamine and serotonin) in the brain. Through this work I aim to investigate how neurotransmitters contribute to neural functions in behavior and cognition. During my PhD'23 at Technion (supervisor Prof. Zeev Gross and co-advised by Prof. Yehuda G Assaraf) I conducted research on tetrapyrrole-based small molecules (corroles; heme analogs) for cancer diagnosis and therapy. As part of my doctoral studies I had the opportunity to visit the labs of Professors Harry Gray at Caltech and Lali Medina-Kauwe at Cedars Sinai Medical Center where I collaborated on developing nanoassemblies of advanced corroles for targeted triple-negative breast cancer chemotherapy.
