Background
About Vinayak Narayan
Neurological surgery is a subject filled with mysteries. Unraveling the mystery leads to curiosity and for me, this clinical curiosity ultimately evolved into a passion for neurosurgical excellence. With the goal of getting trained in the finest neurosciences institute in India, I was selected into the 6-year Neurosurgery residency training program at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) as one among the top 3 candidates in the whole nation. My passion for Cerebrovascular and Cranial base neurosurgery as well as Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery budded in the very early stages of my residency career. The kind of exceptionally brilliant training by the world-class faculties and the opportunities for both clinical and translational research at NIMHANS refined my neurosurgical skills and thoughts which ultimately paved the way for advancing my learning career ahead at the United States. The opportunity to work with global level greatest mentors for more than 5 years at various prestigious universities in the US who are deeply involved in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, and Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery nurtured further my clinical/research interests and passion. Given my academic background of doing spectacular post-doctoral research fellowships and CAST-accredited clinical fellowships including the 'Hybrid vascular neurosurgery training', strong research publication records, and the ongoing strive for excellence, I would be looking forward to providing the best level of advanced patient care and clinical research at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Neurological Surgery.
