About Vincent Calay

For more than twenty years, I have been working on how societies can anticipate and manage transformation in times of uncertainty and multiple crises. I first dedicated my career to research in political and social sciences across several universities (ULB, ULiège, SciencesPo), alternating between academic work and consultancy projects. From 2015 to 2025, I joined IWEPS, where I developed and led strategic foresight and collective intelligence initiatives on high-stakes issues such as energy, mobility, social policies, and governance. I am currently engaged in a two-year mission with the Belgian Climate Centre, where I coordinate an innovative collective intelligence platform that brings together around thirty leading academic experts. Together, we explore the social and economic tipping points that could accelerate—or hinder—the transition towards climate neutrality. My approach is guided by three core convictions: • Analytical rigor is essential to clarify complexity and avoid misleading simplifications. • Collective intelligence is the only path to fair and legitimate choices. • Concrete action must remain the ultimate goal, beyond reports and scenarios. My research and facilitation work focus particularly on climate and energy transitions, public governance, citizen participation, and the social and digital transformations shaping our future. My role is to act as a connector between academia, institutions, and civil society, helping to turn reflection into shared and sustainable pathways for action.
