Background
About Vincent Guyonnet
I am currently the Managing Director of FFI Consulting, a consulting firm dedicated to maximizing the role of animal source foods to human nutrition and food security, including the use of new digital technologies and artificial intelligence. With a mixture of clients from the private sector, NGOs, research institutions and International Think tanks, FFI activities contribute to the challenges of sustainable global food security and nutrition. I learned about the Animal Health business with Pfizer Animal Health (now Zoetis), holding global positions in New York, NY (1991-2002) and then Australia (2002-2004). My second career brought me closer to animal production and its challenges, working for Burnbrae Farms Limited, a family-owned integrated egg producer and processor in Canada (2005-2015). Concurrently (2010-2015), I also served as the scientific advisor for the International Egg Commission (IEC), working with intergovernmental organizations like the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), The World Bank Group as well as with international organizations like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) on numerous global issues (animal welfare, greenhouse gas emissions, sustainability of livestock production,…). Between 2015-2017, I experienced life at a funding agency, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) where I was the team leader for a new initiative in part funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and designed to identify new vaccine candidates to improve the livelihood of livestock and poultry smallholders in the developing world. In my spare time, I give lectures on the overall egg business, food science and poultry production (lecturer at The World Veterinary Education in Production Animal Health (English, Spanish and French); Jilin University, Changchun; China Agricultural University and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing). I am always willing to make a presentation or do some teaching in a new place – just let me know!
