About Vinesh Chandra

I am an experienced and knowledgeable Associate Professor with a passion for creating and implementing engaging and effective STEM, Technology, Science and Mathematics programs in early childhood, primary and high school learning environments As an inspirational teacher and lecturer whose work is underpinned by extensive research and ‘real-world’ curriculum, I possess over 30 years of experience working in education (Australia and overseas), 14 of those within Queensland University of Technology in the areas of technology, STEM and global education. As an associate professor, lecturer, teacher and researcher, I have demonstrated an exceptional ability to produce work that is of high impact and high quality. The focus of my career has been to create engaging, meaningful and stimulating learning experiences for students and improve the quality of students learning nationally and internationally. Starting my career as a High School Teacher in Fiji, I then moved to Australia and continued my teaching career where I taught secondary students in the areas of maths, science and technology. Recognised for my innovative teaching ideas and the impact that I had on students, I quickly realised that I could contribute in a more significant way to the teaching profession by teaching pre-service teachers. Therefore, after completing more extensive study, I entered the world of academia. Since this time, I have developed a reputation as a respected leader in academic circles in Australia and internationally. Having published research that has seen the creation of new knowledge that is of international and local significance, I have consistently demonstrated strong leadership and quality teaching, while being dedicated to creating learning experiences and conducting research that is focused on having a real impact in this complex and diverse world.
