About Vipul Mankad

Dr. Mankad's most recent book, When Science Meets the Soul: A Doctor's Quest for Deeper Healing, was published in December 2025 and is globally distributed. Dr. Mankad's 35-year professional career has included leadership in Biomedical Research, Medical Education, Healthcare Organization, and Health Policy. He is a nationally known academic physician leader with a distinguished track record of NIH-funded research, 150+ publications, and 4 books. He has held leadership positions in several academic health centers. His early work was in hemoglobinopathies while his most recent accomplishments are in the development of several Accountable Care Organizations (ACO), culminating from his work in the US Senate and CMS. Integrated ACO, operated and partly owned by his company, generated $ 33 million in total savings in Medicare costs over five consecutive years. He has helped physician leaderships make a transition from a volume-based to a value-based delivery system. He strongly believes in the need to train compassionate physicians who can harness the power of new science and technology and lead the change. Biomedical research in gene editing, cybernetic engineering, nanotechnology, and advanced information technology, including artificial intelligence, are promising unprecedented longevity and quality of life. At the same time, new technology raises concerns about ethical issues regarding misuse and potential disparities in care. Combining science with compassion and providing accountable care is a challenge to all health professions’ educational institutions. As President of the Mankad Family Foundation, a 501 (c) 3, tax-exempt organization, he and his family are engaged in elementary education, women's empowerment, and improved biomedical research in India.His personal interests include distance running. He ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2006. He is fond of vocal Hindustani Classical Music and writing on scientific as well as non-technical subjects.While he is interested in promoting and leading medical education and research programs globally, he is not seeking positions such as CMO, Medical Director, or Dean in other institutions. His soul interest is in sharing his knowledge, skills, and thoughts with general readers through books such as When Science Meets the Soul: A Doctor's Quest for Deeper Healing, published recently. He is working on another book with leaders of Catalyst Solutions.
