About Visha Khan

I am a graduate from Carleton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I am currently employed by the Ottawa Catholic School Board as an Occasional Teacher (Classroom Supervisor) and a casual Early Childhood Educator and casual Educational Assistant.I have always had a passion for understanding and working with people in the mental health field. My degree has allowed me to explore different areas such as neuropsychology, health, personality, cognitive, developmental and forensic psychology. I have gained a variety of psychological skills that can be applied to various occupational settings and can critically analyze research methodology and findings. I have also gained a plethora of statistical skills including data analysis, probability, sampling distributions and procedures of estimation using statistical software such as SPSS. My work with the Ottawa Catholic School Board is giving me the chance to directly engage with youth of various ages, backgrounds and experiences. It has helped me build exceptional leadership skills through my work of teaching/instructing different classrooms in schools across the city. I have acquired excellent communication skills through interacting with youth, parents and teachers/school staff on a regular basis. My work also allows me to engage and manage youth with special needs including those with ASD. I hope to continue to work with people and pursue further education and experiences to increase and strengthen my understanding and knowledge towards mental health.
