About Vishnu Venugopal

I am an artist, storyteller and creator focused on bringing unseen and underrepresented narratives to life through television, film, music and media. I create interdisciplinary, multiplatform work using my skills as a writer, filmmaker, artist and musician with the hopes of propelling society forward by shedding light in spaces of ignorance. I'm a people person and my work centers on breaking open and presenting the kaleidoscope of perspectives we have around us. My own perspective comes from the lens I had growing up as a first generation, South Asian kid - and my ability to find and build community in bits and pieces of different spaces I occupied. Ultimately I want to make the things I wish I could have seen, heard, and felt when I was a kid - things that might help young people of color and queer folx feel like they can be themselves. I've moved through a slew different industries (sales, technology, marketing, music, entertainment, media, education and student affairs), picking up skill sets and vocabularies to remain adaptable. This has made me comfortable working within fast paced environments with lots of change. I've learned to be a good, active listener and to make space for the people around me and all they might be bringing into spaces and projects with them. These aspects have made me into someone who thrives working in community with people, helping each member achieve their goals as we drive to our ultimate standards of success.
