Foraying into the unknown, backed by gutfeel - that has been my life's motto till date. Right from doing my own business during graduation to get a hang of the business aspects, to going through the corporate grind after my MBA, and then coming back to start my own venture.its really been an unending journey of discovery. Over the last 17 yrs, my corporate profile has evolved from making appraisal reports pertaining to debt funding requirements of corporates to funding them on a proprietary basis and most importantly getting the money back as envisaged, to syndicating debt exposures and arranging treasury funding. I started with doing project appraisals at SBI Capital Markets and migrated to being part of the project financing team for large corporates at ICICI Bank. I then moved to DSP Merrill Lynch where my work involved taking a mix of long-term and short-term debt exposures (typically not HTM) to mid and large corporates. My stint at DSP Merrill Lynch also involved a short but very enriching stint which enabled me to get a sense of the liquid side of debt market by taking trading positions in highly rated corporate bonds/CPs/CDs. From an established house, i then moved Indostar Capital Finance, with the thought of being part of the growth story of a start-up NBFC. My work profile at Indostar comprised doing deals with the view of taking HTM debt exposures at the project and corporate level to small, mid and large corporates across real estate as well as non-real estate sectors. After 6 long years, i again opted for something new by joining Piramal Capital & Housing Finance and starting its syndication practice, where i started the infrastructure syndication desk, before doing structured borrowing for Piramal during the IL & FS crisis. As you say, life comes full circle, and so i finally moved on from Piramal to start my own venture in wealth management space, having realized the requirement of a firm and trusted hand in managing one's finances and ensuring that not only should one work but also make one's money also work. Suffice to say that its been a long, eventful, fruitful and enriching journey to say the least.and seems to me that i have just begun.as Robert Frost said." and miles to go before i sleep.and miles to go before i sleep"!
