About Vo Yoon

As a Third Culture Kid with roots in Bolivia and South Korea, I became interested in education from attending schools in two vastly different countries and envisioning how education systems could better serve first-generation, low-income students like me. My skills in policy analysis, research, teaching, and project management were honed by developing curriculum for English Language Learners at a start-up in Tokyo, collecting data at research sites for various labs at UChicago, reviewing special education policies for the NYC Department of Education, and my coursework at the University of Chicago and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. My background in data analysis consists of hard skills in statistical analysis, data wrangling, and data visualization with STATA, R, and Tableau complemented by an interdisciplinary education in sociology, psychology, and critical race studies. Using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, I am interested in harnessing the potential of data to tell compelling stories that drive action and to evaluate programs and policies so as to create more equitable and engaging experiences for learners of all ages and backgrounds.
