About Wade Tattersall

I am a software engineer with a background in low-energy swarm physics. As a software engineer, I have a passion for improving educational outcomes for students by providing tools to audit and improve learning materials, so that no one ever gets a 404. I also spend a lot of time easing enrolment flows so that no one ever gets a 403. Finally, I like to construct visualisations of the data that I work with - a graph is worth a thousand numbers. My background in research physics has been invaluable in connecting with the academics and students who use the software, as well as more generally with data analysis, complex problem solving, and high-level communication.Speaking of physics: I was a high-potential student, earning a University Medal for my achievements. My PhD thesis, Positron Cross-Sections and Transport in Water, was received well, with one examiner remarking that it was one of the best they'd reviewed. I would be keen to reenter a physics-related career, given the opportunity, and I believe my professional experience as a software engineer would be useful in research computing applications. I'm also a keen cellist, often leading the cello section with Townsville's symphony orchestra, the Barrier Reef Orchestra. I also perform in smaller groups, and I particularly enjoy playing in a Eastern-European/Klezmer dance band.
