About Walid Massoud

Walid Massoud is a senior psychometrician and researcher who is recognized as one of the Arab assessment experts in the field of developing national assessments, item banking, large scale studies, building capacity, IRT analysis and data management with solid regional experience in the Arab context. He has been working for the National Center of Examinations and Educational Evaluation Development Associates Inc, PAL-TECH and the “Evaluation-Testing-Assessment Department (ETAD)” in the American University in Cairo (AUC). He worked also as a local/regional consultant for the European Union, USAID, UNESCO, World Bank in the field of assessments and development of national examinations. During his 20 years of comprehensive corporate and academic experience in assessment and research methods, Walid participated in more than 30 research significant domestic and regional projects, e.g, the Education Enhancement Project Egypt, Evaluation of EEP Schools (2003)- Egypt. This is in addition to many assessment projects funded by USAID-Egypt, e.g, the “School Team Excellence Awarded Program (STEAP)“, “Critical Thinking, Achievements and Problem Solving Assessments (CAPS) for G4, 8 and 10 students in Arabic language, mathematics and science” (2005-2009) and the “National Standardized Test (NST- Egypt)” (2010). From 2008-2010, he was the team leader of the Teacher Cadre Tests (TCT) statistical analysis team. From 2009 to 2011, he was Egypt data manager in TIMSS. On the regional level, he also participated in the Comparative Achievements Study between 10 Arabic countries in the achievement of G12 students in math, biology, physics, and chemistry (ALESCO).
