My 83 years have left me with a major unfulfilled errand, the assurance of the human potential.As a geriatrician I have a unique perspective. First, aging has the imperative imprint of time on all affairs that is largely unappreciated by BIG SCIENCE, fixated as it is by the Cult of the Gene. Second, since aging is not a disease it requires a different operational platform.I have explored this idea in depth in my 2010 Oxford Univ. Press book "Next Medicine".This book received high marks in Science, JAMA, and the WSJ.The most consistent reaction is,"Wonderful book, Walter. But WISHFUL."What do you do with "wishful"? I guess I am convicted if true.My profession of Medicine is a square peg confronting a round hole.It is a repair shop (pays handsomely), it should be a classroom for health literacy.Its disease fixation should be replaced by HEALTH. Prevention must pay!My remaining 27+ years are devoted to consecrating the fullness of the human potential. I seek as wide a distribution channel for this effort as possible, and welcome any helpful advisories.
