About Walter Brindle

I'm an architect with a deep passion for how design shapes the way we live, connect, and move through our cities. As a Registered Architect in NSW and SA and a Principal at JPW Sydney, I bring almost two decades of experience spanning everything from bespoke homes and schools to major urban transformations. My approach to design is collaborative, analytical, and multidisciplinary. I’ve had the privilege to lead and contribute to landmark projects including the $2.8 billion Parramatta Square urban renewal, the 50 Martin Place Renewal, and the $1 billion Adelaide Festival Plaza. I thrive on the complexity of city-making—bringing together public, commercial, cultural, and urban design layers to create places that are dense, sustainable, and memorable. I’m committed to advocating for architecture and advancing our profession. As an elected NSW Chapter Council member of the Australian Institute of Architects and an examiner for the NSW Architects Registration Board, I work to strengthen the connection between professional practice and academia—championing advocacy, ongoing learning, and a resilient architectural culture in NSW. For more than 12 years, I’ve also taught at UTS in the School of Architecture, contributing to both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. My goal is to equip emerging architects with the critical and creative tools needed to shape our built environment. Whether through feasibility studies, masterplanning, development applications, or design excellence competitions, I’m continuously exploring how design can meet complexity with clarity. I believe that working closely with clients, consultants, consent authorities, artists, and contractors leads to exceptional outcomes—and ultimately, meaningful places.
