About Walter Obrien

After 30+ years in the music industry doing promotion, publicity, marketing, and artist management, the last 20 of which involved owning and running my own artist management and marketing company with multiple platinum acts including Pantera, White Zombie, Anthrax, Ministry, Prong, and more, I had enjoyed the career I always wanted. When I retired, I returned to Rutgers/SCILS/Livingston College to finish the Journalism/Media Studies degree I left incomplete in 1973 to join the music business. Graduating cum laude in 2005, I soon began to freelance as a writer and photographer for the Courier News in Central Jersey (mycentraljersey.com), the local Gannett newspaper, which led to a staff writer/reporter position at the Courier News, covering Hunterdon County, NJ and later the editor of the Gannett Flemington InJersey hyperlocal site covering Hunterdon County. In September of 2012 I joined NJ.com as Somerset County reporter. In March 2015, I assumed the role of editor of the Hunterdon Review, part of the New Jersey Hills Media Group and Recorder Publications.
