About Walter Terry

Walter jumped into journalism at Wright College’s Diversity newspaper where he quickly learned how to use layout applications like Quark XPress and Adobe Photoshop. He won an award in the Best in the Midwest Competition for layout and design. Then he studied film and television at Northeastern Illinois University where he received a skills scholarship for work as the Master Carpenter at Stage Center Theater constructing sets for productions as well as teaching groups of students how to use tools. After college, he joined the team at Evanston Community Television where he excelled in video post-production work and in online, video and print marketing. He was a project manager and integral part of ECTV’s full build out of a new studio. During his time at ECTV, Walter began working with local AV houses doing event and theater lighting, audio, and video. Walter then earned a role at WGN where he stood out for his attention-to-detail making sure that TV shows and movies complied with the station’s broadcast standards. Then he moved up to a new position at WGN as an advertising Traffic Coordinator where he ensures copy is FCC compliant and places spots. In addition to his job at WGN, Walter continues to work as an independent contractor for local AV houses, designing websites, and producing sales videos. He also consults on media ventures, audio and visual studio set ups, and marketing strategies. With over 10 years of diverse media experience, Walter is equipped to find creative solutions for clients’ media needs and challenges.
