About Wanda Eppes

As a former teacher, I care that all children are successful, in family and school, in order to prepare them for their adult lives. My classroom teaching experience encouraged me to learn more about how the brain works and how individual differences contribute to a child's experience in school. As a teacher in secondary schools and junior colleges I often wondered why each student seemed so different from others and why they were either succesful or unsuccesful in my classes. So I went back to school to learn more. My experience as a public school School Psychologist, in both Florida and Colorado, has also enriched my skills in working with students and their families for their success. When I opened my private independent practice in the metro-Orlando area in 1993, I became more aware of the struggles of students in both private and home school placements. My husband and I placed our daughter in public school initially, then a small Christian School and then home schooled her through high-school. My goal is to bring my expertise in diagnosing (and making intervention recommendations for) intelligence, learning, attention, mood and personality differences to families in both metro-Orlando, FL and in our new neighborhood near Woodland Park, CO. Specialties: Diagnostic assessment of developmental disabilities (autism, Asperger's Disorder and low incidence handicaps), Specific Learning Disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia), attention/hyperactivity/impulsivity (AD/HD), mood (depression, anxiety), personality and behavior. Our diagnostic reports also offer recommendations for intervention for the future. Orientation: cognitive/behavioral/family systems/Christian.
