About Waringa Hunja

As a teen programs instructor at 826CHI, I develop and lead creative writing workshops for teens, inspiring them to express themselves and explore their potential. I also collaborate with other instructors, volunteers, and staff to create a supportive and engaging learning environment. In addition, I am a freelance editor and designer who helps authors and publishers bring their books to life. I copy edit and proofread manuscripts, design covers and interior layouts, and ensure the quality and consistency of the final product. I have worked on multiple publications, ranging from fiction to nonfiction, poetry to memoir, and academic to popular. I have a passion for the art and process of bookmaking, which I cultivated through my education and experience. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I honed my writing skills and participated in various literary events and activities. I also have a BFA in Graphic Design and Creative Writing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I learned the principles and techniques of visual communication and storytelling. I am an enthusiastic and hardworking writer and designer who values attention to detail, creativity, and collaboration. I am always eager to learn new skills, explore new genres, and work on new projects. I am also an avid reader, a freelance resume consultant, and an amateur pianist.
