About Warren Weixler

Hi there! I’m Warren, it’s nice to meet you! For the last decade I’ve honed my creative problem solving skills through the lens of art, design, & experience to support how SWATCHROOM shows up in the world. I’m grateful to have used these skills in architecture, industrial design, fabrication, construction, & graphics and offered great advice to some of the world’s best hospitality brands, real estate companies, and art collectors. How did I get here you ask? Well … I am a product of my environment of course. From a young age, I was heavily influenced and surrounded by tools and making: grandson of a furniture builder, son of an hot rod obsessed father and a crafty DIY mother. Like many children of the 80’s, I was drawn to Legos, Nintendo, and Board Games…which I still reference as design inspiration to this day. After taking every available art class in my young life, I earned a 5-year Professional Degree (BARCH)+ an Industrial Design Minor from Virginia Tech, where I explored every resource available in the architecture program. Post graduating, I gained experience in a design/build office before starting two successful design-build firms: dbd Studio (2008-2011)+ design operative (2011-2013), both creative architectural offices specializing in restaurant and retail space design, with a digital fabrication focus. In 2012, Maggie O’Neill and I merged our respective companies and created SWATCHROOM. SWATCHROOM is an artist driven creative studio built to play, innovate, support and create. All the things I love in one place! This keeps me motivated and constantly curious to find the sweet spot between art + design and fabrication + environment. When I’m not being creative, you can find me working with our partners to build/support the communities and connections that keep the creative economy going round. I’ve been recognized for a few of these efforts and find myself in great company: Creative Lead for the Shaw Main Streets Board from 2017-2019, DC Modern Luxury Magazine’s ‘Men of the Moment’ 2018, and Mensbook DC Committee Member. I love meeting new people so hit me up if you’d like to connect. At the moment I’m into supporting local artists, basketball, music, cycling, plants, youtube rabbit holes, cooking, modern art museums, web3 and traveling to get creatively inspired.
