Presently associated with TATA STEEL as a Sr. Technologist and QA personnel in Steelmaking and Casting.• Responsible for Quality Control and Process Control in the Steelmaking area. Involved in monitoring deviations in product quality and process parameters and giving appropriate suggestions to improve process efficiency and product quality based on thermodynamic calculations and data analysis.• Worked in the TMT rebar area to improve quality and reduce cost of the product. Having knowledge about TMT rebar production process. Done TQM projects to reduce cost of the product through alloy redesign. Having knowledge about different TMT grades and associated different kinds of surface, internal and shape defects that can occur in TMT rebar and their possible causes.• Responsible for metallographic analysis of defects of flat products. Having knowledge of different types of defects associated with coils and slabs.• Accountable for 5S (as a 5S expert) activity and safety (as a safety officer) in the department. Responsible for arranging safety action meeting (SAM) and safety audits at characterization labs to improve safety aspects. Accountable for maintaining PPE inventory in the department.• Responsible for submitting Kaizens to demonstrate small improvements in the department. Familiar with TQM improvement projects and daily work management (DWM).• Responsible for making standard operating procedure (SOP) and work instruction (WI) to achieve efficiency, quality output and uniformity of performance.• Responsible for material management in the department which includes item code creation, purchase requisition using SAP MM Module, vendor evaluation and material inspection.• Key completed projects: Alloy redesign of lower diameter Fe500D grade thermo-mechanically treated rebar to reduce cost of ferroalloys Use of aluminium dross based briquetted synthetic slag for secondary refining of steel instead of pre-melted synthetic slag to reduce aluminium consumption Optimization of calcium cored wire addition at ladle furnace for Si-Mn killed steel grade Study of cleanliness of low carbon aluminium killed steel grades CFD modelling of fluid flow and mixing phenomena in argon stirred steelmaking ladles Study of ladle refining process using FactSage® Estimation of slag carryover to ladle from BOF during the tapping process Prediction of mechanical properties of hot rolled steel product by machine learning approach
