I did not realize until much later in life that it was Churchill's speech to the Parliament in WWII. I must have read about it or heard it in some WWII documentary and forgotten about the source. Nonetheless, it was a great motto for a young high school soccer player.(That's me.) I was cut the first day of try-out. However, a quarter through the season, I was a starter and faster than anyone on the team. The Metro Conference Record was 6-1-1; Season Record was 12-6-3, not bad I guess. I also scored two goals in that season. Ask and I shall tell;)"With determination, consequences be damn."-Got it from a novel. Lived by it when I was a young stud in the US Army. Mostly in the road marches with full gear and weighed rucksack courtesy of the first sergeant to ensure that all the soldiers had the same weight (120 lbs). He forgot to consider that not all the weapons weighed the same. I was 144 lbs at 5'8" carrying an M60. It stuck with me for a while thereafter. It was my motto when I was a young buck in US Army. Things getting more complicated, more responsibilities, and going to war, and stuff. Plus, keeping up with the young studs, displaying military prowess, and maintaining physical competency are getting more and more difficult. “Failure is not the end; it’s a lesson; stop trying is. However, trying the same thing in the same manner and expecting a different result is insanity.”-Many have said something similar, but this is my mettle and I live by it. This is when I became a dud due to aging and physical and mental diminishing, life in college was challenging."." I am sure there will be other mottos depending on the environment and goal in that period."Ready! On to the next adventure.", this will be my motto when the twilight comes for me.
