About Wayne Allison

I am currently Coaching Director at The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) where I am responsible for creating, implementing and driving the organisation's coaching strategy and framework for all match officials. I previously worked as Technical Director at the League Managers Association. Key achievements included creating the LMA Mentoring Programme, which trained more than 60 mentors to support the football industry. I also designed, developed and delivered a successful Technical Mentor Programme that trained 15 highly experienced managers and coaches to support and guide managers in both the men’s and women’s game. My previous roles included Coaching Research Manager and Coach Inclusion and Diversity Manager at The Football Association. This has all come after 20 years as a professional footballer and I hold the full range of UEFA coaching qualifications, including the UEFA Pro Licence and have also been on the coaching staff at several professional football clubs. I have a PhD in Sports Science and Coaching and co-authored Advances in Coach Education and Development: From Research to Practice. I have been a non-executive director at UK Coaching since 2017 and I am also part of the Sports Resolutions’ Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators.
