About Wayne Baker

As the Chief Investment Officer of TIAA Ventures, I focus on early-stage investments both as a limited partner in funds and directly into fin-tech and insure-tech start-ups to help us deliver on our strategy and transformation. My team identifies new opportunities to help accelerate TIAA’s rate of technological change and enhance innovation within our industry and the markets TIAA serves. Prior to TIAA I have more than two and a half decades of experience in investment banking and in technology sales across several leading institutions including experience in managing a team where I drove results and success. I have extensive relationships across the VC and growth equity community including frequent dialog with technology startups. I’ve partnered across multiple areas in the firms where I’ve worked including technology investment banking, equity capital markets, the IT organization, equity sales and trading, private capital markets, M&A and wealth management.
