About Wayne Farrens

I am a highly driven, creative and pragmatic problem solver who has lived many professional lives. I put myself through college, graduating with honors while maintaining full-time employment. Starting in the late 00's, I helped introduce and build trust in the then-unknown Samsung brand, where I was frequently recognized for managing the highest-performing market in the country. I have worked in retail sales, at a haunted hotel, as a social media manager, and I once became an impromptu college professor, keeping an upper division Environmental Justice course running while the professor I was working for suffered an unexpected month-long absence. I enjoy a side hustle as a musician and producer, including multiple radio placements and performances in venues big and small (though mostly small ). I am also a trained visual designer with strong illustration, motion graphics, and typography skills. Most significantly, I have served my communities as an urban planner for over a decade, including working for the 12th, 17th, and 18th largest cities in the United States. I possess extensive experience in zoning, design review, environmental review, land use entitlements, and public speaking. And now, I find all of these past lives coming together as I help build groundbreaking urban planning AI, demystifying the language of zoning and powering new products from some of the biggest names in tech. Throughout all of this, there is much of me that remains unchanged. I live to serve marginalized communities, to help empower them and create a more equitable future. I love to learn and to share my knowledge with others. I enjoy solving complex problems, especially through design. I care deeply about people and I want everyone that I work with, whether that is the team I manage internally or the external customers and communities that I serve, to feel seen and appreciated. And I see challenges and obstacles as an opportunity to learn and grow. I am a proud multipotentialite, driven to explore all that I am capable of.
