After serving in the United States Air Force Strategic Air Command 8th & 2nd Civil Engineers I was fortunate to begin my HVAC trade experience in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices in Local 537 Refrigeration Division. From that time on I have advanced in the following areas. Extensive experience in the HVAC and Process Control Industry, including hands on and oversight of installation, startup and servicing of mechanical and control systems. My service background includes large tonnage centrifugal and absorption chillers, reciprocating direct expansion air conditioning & refrigeration equipment, pneumatic & electronic temperature controls, direct digital controls & process instrumentation. Managed combined teams of skilled trades, professionals, contractors and support staff in a facilities maintenance environment for more than 20 years. Supported central chiller plants, research and academic building mechanical and control systems and led the efforts to enhance energy efficiencies. The emergence of Enterprise Energy Management Systems has allowed me to be instrumental in the interface of these systems with Direct Digital Control technologies to provide energy savings opportunities to multi building campus environment applications. Worked closely with Planning & Construction departments to set budgets for mechanical and control systems aspects of new and renovation projects. This aspect of financial planning has also been applied to Facility Condition Index for systems replacement over the long term in capital and expense planning. Program development, including budgets, ranking importance for capital investment and oversight of installation. Collaborated with Engineering firms to develop Lon Works Guide Specifications in each category of Open Protocol Building Automation Systems & Lighting Control Systems. Led the Commissioning Process and have been involved with Building Systems Functional Testing, from test procedure development through results reporting and corrective action implementation and verification, to insure design intent is achieved. Collaborated with the design team to modify design documents as needed. Participated in recruiting and coaching technical staff as well as encouraging skill set enhancement, to provide a higher level of service.
