About Wayne Lam

Thank you for visiting my profile page. In my current role, I oversee the business and operations at my university's core materials characterisation facility where both the academic community as well as commercial clients from industry are served. In my first year I doubled the revenue at the centre and I am on course to double it again in the next 12 months. The intention is to quintuple (x5) the income over a five year plan, which I think is highly achievable if I am given the time and resources. Academia is going through changes at the moment, which has presented me with a number of opportunities to support a broad range of other activities across the organisation, e.g, College Management, Student Support, Academic Research, Technical Operations as well as a plethora of administrative responsibilities. I am presently holding several interim roles alongside my main role and successfully delivering outputs on multiple fronts with no extra investment or assistance. At my previous workplace in industry, I oversaw the evolution of a funded laboratory from a research setting to a self-sufficient commercial test-house, generating year on year profits which supported other areas of the organisation. Throughout my career so far, I have worked well with colleagues and am popular amongst my line reports and managers, as well as students, academics and professional staff around the university.
