About Wayne Lonergan

Wayne is an internationally distinguished practitioner with over 40 years valuation experience. Wayne is widely recognised both within and beyond Australia as a leading expert in the field of corporate and business valuations. Wayne is the author of the leading valuation texts titled “The Valuation of Businesses, Shares & Other Equity”, published by Allen & Unwin Australia and “The Valuation of Mining Assets”, published by Sydney University Press, and has in addition published well over 100 technical papers in various leading industry journals. Wayne has been involved in numerous public and private company valuation and takeovers, and numerous assignments for various government departments. It would be fair to say that he is widely recognised as the leading Australian expert on share and business valuations in Australia. Wayne was formerly: • a member of the International Joint Working Group Financial Instruments Sub-Committee of the IASC for three years • the National President of the Securities Institute of Australia for three years • a member of the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) for seven years • a member of the Companies and Securities Advisory Committee (CASAC) for nine years • a member of the Asian Securities Analysts Federation Executive Committee three years; and • an advisor to the Attorney General / Treasurer on Corporate Law Reform for 12 years. In recognition of Wayne’s outstanding technical contributions and tireless efforts and involvement in the industry, Wayne was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in Economics from The University of Sydney in May 2008.
