About Wayne Long

Multiple Use Managers is a wildlife management and consulting firm. With extensive and diverse experience, I have created and implemented multiple, land use plans in a responsible and resourceful manner for profitable returns for both private land owners and corporations. From Simpson and Potlatch Timber companies to Unocal, PGE, and Dart Industries and including BML, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Forest Service, I identify and develop the possibilities for multiple uses on any given acreage—from acres to small islands. I have assessed the benefits and costs of managing agricultural, hunting, fishing, and recreational lands for its potential usages and have created successful programs for its owners. Both their customers and the public have found enjoyment from these sustainable fishing and hunting opportunities and benefited from the healthy grazing and farming practices put in place. Since the company's inception, wildlife biologists along with its long-standing staff has directed and supervised wildlife and recreation resources on more than thirty properties in seven western states as well as in Alaska and the Aleutians Islands and the Bahama Islands. For thirty-three years, we managed and operated a professional hunting program for mule deer and Roosevelt Elk on the eighty-five, square miles of Santa Rosa Island, Due to the consistency of our land management on this island, the hunting, and particularly for mule deer, was considered the best anywhere in the West. The other professional hunting properties that we have managed included Dye Creek Preserve. Over the years, many papers have been published and lectures given about wildlife management to businesses and professional societies such as: The Wildlife Society, Texas Wildlife Association, The Society for Range Management, The National Cattlemen’s Association, California Forest Landowners Association, The Mule Deer Foundation, and Political Economic Resource Center.
