Background
About Wayne Lord
From 2014 to the present, after retiring from Georgia State University, I sat on doctoral dissertation review committees for Georgia State, served as member of and provided strategic counsel for the Education Committee for The Denver Foundation, mentored elementary school students, and presented at civic organizations, universities, and churches. From 2010-2014, I served as the President of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and Clinical Professor of International Business in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. I taught in the Executive M.B.A, Executive Doctorate in Business, and Executive Education programs while leading the World Affairs Council of Atlanta. Before coming to GSU and the World Affairs Council, I was Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Pilgrim's Pride Corporation, the largest poultry company in the United States. Previously, I held the position of Vice President at Gold Kist, a large Atlanta-based agribusiness company, and was responsible for the company's government, community, media, and investor relations. I was also involved in international trade policy negotiations, primarily with Russia, on behalf of the company. Additionally, I served as Executive Director of the Gold Kist Foundation and was responsible for the administration and evaluation of grants. From 1989 to 2001, I was President of Southco Commodities, an international commodities trading company, during which time I traveled extensively in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, and India, establishing new markets for the peanut business. I served two terms as Chairman of the Board of the American Peanut Council and the American Peanut Foundation. I also served for six years on the Advisory Council of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Georgia. During my professional career, I have developed an extensive network in the corporate, educational, legislative, and NGO sectors.
