Completed my electrical training in the Royal Austrailian Airforce. During this time I developed skills in nicad battery servicing and fault finding on military aircraft. Once leaving the Airforce I worked for Sabnife further developing my skills in batteries. I then moved to SECWA (Westernpower) where I started my skills in Metering and High Voltage testing. During the course of the next 25 years I became a NATA signiture for accuracy testing of High Voltage Metering units. With Westernpower moving to a condition based assessment of Transmission equipment I and my collegues became leaders in the country with this new technology. First utility to introduce VLF testing and the first to start doing SFRA on transformers. I finally became the expert in the HV Laboratory, running the scheduling and functionality of this lab. I have delivered a number of seminars in this field and present a module to the Master students at Curtin University. I now am developing Work Practices to ensure quality and safety in Westernpower.
