About Wayne Scott

People leader with a diverse background in both residential mortgage and outdoor recreation. I am passionate about building and empowering cross-functional and multi-functional teams of professionals to better the lives of customers, communities, and fellow employees. I believe in purposeful and intentional innovation that leads to meaningful, sustainable improvements and transformation of the way in which an organization gets work done. I'm very lucky to lead multiple production teams within the Mortgage Division of BECU, one of the USA's largest credit unions, and the top credit union in the Puget Sound. We're all about "people helping people" and are dedicated to improving the lives of our members and our communities. Two of my teams focus on achieving the highest transparency and accuracy of consumer-facing loan estimates and closing disclosures, protecting the member and ensuring they are able to make the most informed decisions based on the most accurate information possible. I've also lead teams dedicated to: performing pre-underwriting reviews of files to ensure the smoothest initial underwriting experience, ordering all required third-party due diligence documentation (appraisals, title work, flood determinations, condo reviews, etc.), reviewing files post-closing to resolve any data integrity or due-diligence matters and prepare files for transfer to sub-servicers and sale on the Secondary Market. The scope of my previous work in Parks and Recreation involved: protecting and restoring park resources, removing and controlling invasive species, performing varied commissioned law enforcement duties, managing all special use permits for my unit and advising on the administration on best practices for special use permits/facility use permits system-wide, managing recurring large-scale events as the venue stakeholder, responding to emergency medical calls, advocating for the community and Friends group as park liaison, constructing and maintaining trails, performing routine facilities maintenance and solid waste removal, and implementing park-level environmental sustainability initiatives. I'm an outdoor enthusiast through and through: you'll find me backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, camping, and generally taking any opportunity I can to be in the great outdoors. With that, you'll also find me advocating for increased access, helping others start their own journeys into the outdoors, and amplifying the voices of professionals, groups, and agencies that make accessing the outdoors possible.
