About Wayne Tierney

IT Systems Admin, Security Compliance Specialist and Lead I have spent my entire career working in the IT industry, starting at Cognos Inc, which was later acquired by IBM in 2008. I am creative and innovative, willing to play the devil’s advocate if it means coming up with a more efficient, cleaner solution. I am driven by challenges and I work well with colleagues who believe in collaboration and teamwork. Most recently I assembled and led a development team in automating an inherited, time-consuming internal task, which consisted of sorting security advisories manually by OS and or Application The end result was a savings of roughly 3 hours per day to 45 IT Administrators that managed roughly 350 servers. I have been extremely fortunate during my career to have worked with many different teams within the IT industry, allowing me to gain experience and exposure to a broad spectrum of technologies and skills. Initially starting my career in level 1 IT support, my skills, attitude and aptitude have enabled me to progress to more senior roles and projects with additional responsibilities. I pride myself on my troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and strive to always examine projects/problems from all perspectives. This has always been an admirable trait of mine and my colleagues often draw me into projects to provide my insight and thoughts. Technology is not limited to business hours for me, as after hours I enjoy building and experimenting with Raspberry Pi’s, as well as researching current news in IT security. I have created a security patch process and schedule for all my systems in my home network, maintaining a tight security regimen avoiding vulnerabilities.
