About Wayne Workman

I was born in Seattle, Washington and grew up in the small town of Stockton, Utah where I graduated from Tooele High School. After serving a two-year church mission in Denmark, I earned my bachelor’s degree in education and athletic training from Utah State University and master’s degree in administrative leadership from the University of Phoenix. My 26-year career in education includes 8 years as a health and sports medicine teacher, 2 years as an assistant principal, 3 years as a principal, 1 year as the Human Resources Director, 3 years as the Deputy Superintendent and I am now in my ninth year as Superintendent for the Lyon County School District. I served as the Nevada Association of School Superintendents (NASS) President during the 2019-2020 school year and was named the Nevada Superintendent of the Year for both the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and the Nevada Association of School Boards (NASB) in 2021. I have been married to my beautiful wife Jenni, for nearly 30 years and we are the proud parents of four children (Oakley-25, Kobey-23, Kirsten-20 and Raquel-18), all of whom currently attend or graduated from Dayton High School and Western Nevada College. I enjoy spending time with my family, golfing, serving in my church, and serving the students, staff, and families of the Lyon County School District.
