About Wei Shi

Molecular biologist with over 20 years of research experience, specializing in CRISPR screening, cancer immunology, DNA repair, and spatial omics. I have led whole-genome and custom CRISPR-Cas9 screens using breast cancer–T cell co-culture models to uncover genetic drivers of immune evasion and tumour progression. Skilled in high-throughput workflows, NGS library preparation, functional assays, imaging, and flow cytometry. I also led a spatial cell biology program integrating spatial transcriptomics (Stereo-seq, BGI) and lipidomics (mass spectrometry imaging via MALDI and DESI) to study tumour heterogeneity and microenvironmental dynamics. Earlier work includes characterizing transgenic mouse models, dissecting DNA repair pathways, and investigating hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell homeostasis—experiences that shaped my translational mindset and collaborative approach. I’m especially interested in research at the intersection of cancer biology, immunology, metabolism, CRISPR technologies, organoid modelling, and spatial profiling. I’m also exploring QC- and compliance-focused roles in GMP and GCP environments, where I can apply my scientific expertise in industry and health care settings.
