About Weikun Xia

Weikun Xia is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Drs. Daniel Haber & Shyamala Maheswaran lab at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center. He is also appointed as a Research Fellow at the Harvard Medical School. Weikun is interested in understanding the transcription and epigenetic regulation in diverse biological systems, including embryo development, neurodegenerative disorder, and cancer metastasis. In his Ph.D, he studied epigenetic reprogramming during mammalian early development from DNA methylation at the DNA level, histone marks at the nucleosome level, to high-order chromatin structure level."New technology generates unpredicted observations, which leads to new knowledge by establishing causality." Weikun now tries to apply cutting-edge profiling methods and extend his view to new fields. His recent focus are the epigenomic analysis of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and epigenetic regulations during cancer metastasis, and he hopes to contribute to cancer early detection.
