An accomplished and results-oriented Research Scientist, I bring extensive expertise in human-centric Computer Vision, Graphics, and Machine Learning. My experience is marked by leading innovative research projects, developing novel algorithms, and publishing high-impact papers in prestigious conferences and journals. I have a proven talent for bridging the gap between academic research and practical, real-world applications, significantly contributing to advancements in digital human technology, neural rendering, and motion capture solutions. My areas of expertise include Human Motion Capture, Digital Human Modeling, Neural Rendering, Physics-Based Animation, Humanoid Control, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Deep Learning, and Human-Centric AI. I am also skilled in Research and Development, Technical Leadership, and Scientific Writing. Previously, as a Staff Research Scientist and Senior Research Scientist at Meta Reality Labs (Codec Avatar), I spearheaded the end-to-end technical development of an egocentric human pose estimation project, which was crucial for core MR telepresence capabilities. This involved effective cross-functional team coordination and project execution. I also architected and optimized key technical components for this project, including sensor configurations, synthetic data strategies, data capture systems, and data collection pipelines. My work included delivering impactful live demos of MR telepresence, showcasing significant advancements in pose estimation. Prior to Meta, I was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at MPI for Informatics, where I led research in human-centric Computer Vision and Graphics, with a focus on human performance/motion capture, human modeling, and neural rendering. During this time, I authored and co-authored numerous publications in top-tier venues and led the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art, 100+ camera multiview system for capturing high-quality dynamic human data. I hold a Ph.D. from Beijing Institute of Technology, where my thesis focused on 3D scene reconstruction with depth images. I also worked as a visiting Ph.D. student at NICTA & Australian National University.
