About Wendelin Lockett

A native of St. Louis, Wendelin has lived in WI since 2001. She has also lived and performed in San Diego, Boston and New York City. She received her MM in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music with the honor of “Distinction in Performance”. Her BA was earned from the University of MO-Columbia. In 2014 Wendelin received her Level 3 certification of Somatic Voicework (™) The LoVetri Method at The Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute of Shenandoah University in VA. Wendelin has performed in numerous operas and musicals with the Skylight Opera Theatre, Sarasota Opera, Central City Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Brown Opera, Longwood Opera, Moonlight Amphitheater, Paper Mill Playhouse, and North Shore Music Theater.Some of her favorite roles include Countess (Le Nozze Di Figaro) Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus) Jenny Lind (Barnum) Guilietta (Tales of Hoffmann) Lady Thiang (The King & I). Locally she performed the role of Mother Abbess (Sound of Music) and Mother (Ragtime).Recent engagements include performances with the Lakeshore Symphonic Band, The Messiah with the St. Peter's Chorale in St Louis, and Soprano Soloist in "The Armed Man" with the Menomonee Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Lockett’s concert work includes performances with the Milwaukee Symphony, San Diego Chamber Chorale, Concordia University in Irvine, Faculty Recitals at Concordia and Cardinal Stritch as well as concerts throughout WI, MO, MD and VA. She is a Vocal Instructor at both Cardinal Stritch and Concordia Universities, and has held a position on the Vocal Faculty at Alverno College and the WI Conservatory of Music. She is a board member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and currently teaches voice and piano as a private instructor. Her students have been winners of Exemplary Awards at the Wisconsin Solo & Ensemble Festival, finalist/winners at the NATS auditions and recipients of numerous other awards and scholarships.
