About Wendi Brandow

A career communications professional, committed to doing the most good the best way I know how-by telling stories and sharing information far and wide. My first love is the written word in all its forms and I have wanted to be a published author since I was old enough to carry around a tattered notebook with a neon orange cover. Over the course of my career I have provided direct services in therapeutic foster care; recruited, licensed, and trained foster parents for their most difficult roles; traveled the Eastern part of the country, building therapeutic foster care programs from the ground up; and quite literally made wishes come true through my job as Communications and Development Coordinator at the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where I co-directed the organization's successful Adopt An Angel campaign, raising over $100k annually in the five weeks leading up to Christmas. I have written and published over 2,500 articles on best practices in nonprofits for industry publications like Successful Fundraising and The Nonprofit Communications Report. I also have published numerous articles and opinion pieces on parenting through local and national publications, including Scary Mommy, Grown & Flown, The Times Union, and others. I also had several stories published in the anthology Beyond the Diaper Bag. But my favorite job is being a mom to Luke and Olivia. I am married and live in the great Capital District of New York.
