About Wendy Fish

My experience varies from different schools throughout the valley, working in low socio-econimic areas and providing support and instruction to elementary students. I have been in the classroom for five years and have taught first and second grade. Additionally, I have experience working with English language learners and students with cross categorical disabilities. I received training and am dual certified in both elementary education and special education. I have obtained my reading endorsement to enhance my skills as a literacy educator and improve the quality of my instruction. I have extensive taring in educational programs such as Success For All, Investigations, FOSS, OpenCourt Reading, Eureka Math and Sadlier Phonics. I have also received training in SmartBoard software and implement technology such as document cameras into my lessons. I have created and developed rigorous and engaging lessons to meet the needs of my students and participate in professional learning communities to gain feedback and reinforcement on my teaching practices as well as lesson plans. I have experience with teacher evaluation tools such as REIL and the Danielson Framework. I provide support to fellow teachers as mentor and to students through tutoring before school. I also coach after school sports such as cheer and kickball to encourage teamwork and persistence. I have experience overseeing a Title I intervention program as a lead reading specialist, in addition to planning and implementing monthly parent nights. I also have experience working with families who qualify under the McKinney Vento Assistance Act and providing them with resources to help promote success. In my role as a reading specialist, I also conduct data meetings and participate in leadership meetings to make data based decision to improve instruction at my school. I also conduct classroom observations to provide feedback on best instructional practices, in addition to providing professional development districtwide to support teacher instruction in the area of reading.
