About Wendy Hernandez

I’m a Guatemalan American who was born and raised in Los Angeles, graduated, therefore becoming the first in my family to receive a four-year college degree. From a young age, I embraced the world of animation so deeply that I badly wanted to BE a cartoon character, but I found it difficult to see myself because almost none of them looked like me. That is why I am committed to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusivity in children’s animation. I will push for more relatable on-screen stories that feature characters who represent different communities, ethnicities, physical abilities, races, sexual orientations, economic circumstances, etc. My goal is to both broaden children’s perspectives and ensure that every child can see themselves within their favorite cartoons.
